Storage OptionsBy joel on November 22, 2011 | No Comments
What are the different types of storage you could go with? It’s a common question, and most of the time, people don’t even think out all of their options. The reason that people are looking for different ways they could store some things is because they do not want to have some of their things in their way. They want to ensure they can walk around and not bump or fall over their belongings. So they might either make room out places they wouldn’t typically have room or find other options. Of course, there is self storage and pod storage, but what other options do you have? One option is to get rid of things you now longer need. Instead of paying to store them, you can sell them. That is why you will see people have garages sales are place ads in their local newspaper or internet outlets. You can actually get some of the money back from the things you purchased. If you are thinking about throwing out items, stop for a moment and see if you are able to get someone to pay for that item. If you are just going to throw it away, you could be making a big mistake. You can also store things in your family’s home. Finally, consider getting a place with has storage with it already (aka a shed or basement). Out of all these options, self storage is the most secure, but sometimes price plays more of a part than security. You can get good quality storage from a self storage facility. They will be open longer than a family member’s home, there is comfort and there is also knowledge knowing that facility is protecting the belongings of others. Sometimes it is a quality decision to go with self storage than any other storage options. What are the different types of storage you could go with? Enjoy the Seasons and Rotate Your Gear with a Storage...By jeff on March 17, 2011 | No Comments
Oakridge storage units are located in British Columbia, Canada. When we think of Canada, we think of snow. We have been living in a place too, that snow falls on a pretty good clip. We do not trick ourselves, though, in thinking that our snow fall can match anything in Canada. We recently adopted a seven-year-old boy from China and he has never seen snow before. We have been explaining all the things about snow we can think of, including sledding, and snowball fights and snow tunnels. He tried to build a snow tunnel the other day and he did a fairly good job on it. It is funny because everyone we know does not really want snow, but we do, because our seven year old son wants to play in it. We do not know if we think this is really lucky, but a blizzard was on the way and we were happy. It came in the morning and it snowed all day. We ended up with around fifteen to seventeen inches of snow on the ground and the fun began. Of course, shoveling snow is not always fun, but this year everything changed with our new son. We were outside with our shovels and he had a blast moving the snow off the driveway. We went to our self storage unit and got the old reliable sleds out of the storage space and put them in the car.
Oakridge storage units in British Columbia, Canada has a lot of sleds stored in their units we guess. This is where we kept our snow sleds, though we do not live in Canada. Our snowfall will not add up to theirs, but compared to China it is a great think to see. We went sledding almost everyday on the side of our house where we have a slight hill to go on. It was a good beginning for our seven-year-old son for his first trip sledding down a hill. It was great fun watching him go down the hill and we laughed together. He was bundled up in snow pants, and gloves and a knit hat. We had just bought him a new winter coat and we were ready for the cold. Even though it was very snowy, and fun, it was still cold outside enough outside to make it feel pretty cold. We had to be careful as not to get too cold and our little seven-year-old son was looking a little red in the skin, and we had to go in and explain how the cold air affects us.
Oakridge storage units in British Columbia, Canada have seen a lot of little boys sled down the hills nearby. This is great for all mothers and fathers to watch, as their children go down steep hills. They have made bumps in some of the tracks they have made, and some even take air as they go down the hills. We have gone now almost everyday since the snowstorm, and we are all getting pretty tired walking up and down the hills. It goes with the territory though, so bring it on and let us all go sledding in the snow. There is nothing like it and we love to do it. We hope you do to.

The Growth of the Storage Industry in QuebecBy jeff on March 14, 2011 | No Comments
Saint Hubert storage units are located in the great place of Quebec, Canada. A self storage manager must perform many tasks to be successful in the self storage industry. Times have changed, of course, but managers in this industry have really changed. A decade ago, almost all the managers in this industry were a husband and wife team. They would live right on the self storage site and run the facility. Many times the apartment they lived in was right behind the business office and with a simple twist of a doorknob; the couple would start their day. This was one of the benefits in the business in the day, as part of the couple’s salary; they could live free in the apartment provided. Most of the time they were run by what is called in the storage industry as ma and pa stores, these smaller self storage places could be run by two people. A small self storage place was usually in the three hundred to four hundred storage unit size, so a two-person manager team could handle it pretty easy. The manager back than was responsible for so many tasks, they became jack of all trades, as they had to do everything involved in the running of their facility. The husband or the pa of the team would take care of all the outside stuff like cleaning gutters or fixing storage roll up doors. The wife of the team or the ma of the operation ran the office and took care of the money and sales. This was going on for many years in the storage industry and the industry was stagnating in a way. Most storage places were full or near full for such a long time, owners saw no need in changing things until more competition came in.
Saint Hubert storage units in Quebec, Canada might have new sets of managers like the ones we will talk about too. These new managers are now trained in sales and other things to try to be more pro active in the selling of storage units, instead of just being caretakers. Caretakers is a term used in the self storage industry to describe manager teams who did not try to learn sales or be a more professional team, but just two people who waited for customers to come through their doors. Times have changed, and those type of manager husband and wife teams are all but gone now. Big business took over and the ma and pa stores are not here that much anymore. Some people miss them, and the homespun charm of some of these manager teams. Some were grandmother and grandfather like, and they were sweet and very nice to their customers. We hope the new managers are nice too and do not loose that talent.
Saint Hubert storage units in the great place of Quebec, Canada might have the new manager type too. There are advantages and disadvantages to this change, but most of the time it is good. There are better buildings and more products, more knowledge and all the other. Good luck to all.

Keep Your Storage Unit CleanBy jeff on March 10, 2011 | No Comments

Malvern storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada get dirty once in a while. Dirty units are a big no no in the storage industry. It is up to the managers to keep these storage units clean after the customers move out. Most customers do a good job in keeping the units clean after they move out, but they still need to be cleaned because of dust or leaves blowing in, or maybe a stain is left on the floor. Besides why should a new customer come into a storage space and have to be in a dirty unit left by someone else, and in between all that, the manager of the self storage place does not even clean it. Now sometimes things happen, and a very busy storage place may keep a manager very busy, whereas he or she may not find the time to clean these vacant units in a timely manner. This has happened to all self storage managers at one time or another, but a good manager can catch up in a short while. It is horrible to open up a vacant storage unit to show a customer and it is dirty, or things left behind by the previos customer are in the unit. Would you rent this space? It may make you think that maybe the rest of this property is dirty too and you may lose a sale over this. Try to keep your storage units clean and try to keep up with this task. When we were managers of self storage places many moons ago, we did a good job keeping storage units clean. We made it a priority. All storage managers should make it a priority too. There are so many advantages of keeping a self storage facility clean including a reduction in crime, good salesmanship, and a nice curbside view for potential customers. Who wants to put a thousand dollar couch, in a dirty storage unit?
Malvern storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada have a few dirty units too. It brings up a story in our head about the time the wife and yours truly had to replace a bad manager and we took over the property to fix it. The manager knew he was being fired from a week or so ago, and he stopped cleaning units. He must have stopped a long time ago because every storage door we opened, we saw a dirty unit. As a matter of fact, the whole place was so dirty we had to close the office for a while to at least get some of the dirt cleaned. We came to the conclusion that if we took ten minutes to clean as fast as we could one storage unit, we could open up again.
Malvern storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada have a few dirty units too. We hope it is not as many to clean as we did after that bad manager was fired. We went like gangbusters and we finally got one hundred storage units cleaned and we opened up the office again to get the business back on track. Later that week we got to clean them a little better than that ten minute start.

You Can Keep Almost Anything in StorageBy jeff on March 7, 2011 | No Comments

Country Hills storage units in Alberta, Canada, has our dog sweater in it. We know, sometimes other people make you do things you might not do otherwise, so here we are going to our storage unit in the snow and the cold and ice. We usually fall on our butts once a year, so we are thinking we have not fallen yet and our time will be soon. This blogger fell last year twice, once in the garage and once on a storage property trying to get in a door. Both times, it was landing on a back and when this blogger tried to get up, it brought a little worry on us. It was all good though as my body raised and everything was OK once again. The family as a whole will fall too, and our seven-year-old son falls so much I stopped counting. We think he falls on purpose sometimes for the fun of it. We fall when we sled which is quite all right with us, because it is not far to fall for an old man and we can get up. Our six-year-old daughter falls on purpose too sometimes, and we have to watch her to make sure she is not falling hard enough to hurt herself or break something. We saw our Dad once slip on a porch and fall down it and as luck would have it, he slid right next to a sharp shovel on the porch. We dragged him in the house and he pulled up his snow pants and what a bad gash we saw. We were scared and wanted to rush him to the hospital, but like my Dad always is, he would not go and the next day he even went to work. Falling down in ice and snow, we guess runs in the family
Country Hills storage units in Alberta, Canada has a dog sweater we must find. Our dog is sixteen years old times five, so he is ninety years old in our life. We all do that do we not, see how old our dog is compared to us if he was not a dog, but a human being. Some insects only live a few hours and some animals only for a few years. We have a friend with pet rats and he told us they will only live a maximum of three years. We do not want pets like that, because that would be too many animal funerals to deal with all the time. A dog passing away is hard enough for a family to deal with, so a rat dying every two or three years would be hard on the kids. Ok, it is hard on us parents too. We are animal lovers all the way. So, this sweater we are going to get from our storage area for our ninety year old dog can go outside with us. We are not sure how much warmth this gives him, but the wife insists on him wearing it, and it is in our storage unit.
Country Hills storage units in Alberta, Canada must give us our dog sweater. We need to find it amongst forty or more boxes. We hope we labeled the box, dog stuff. We think we did.

Self Storage AdviceBy jeff on February 9, 2011 | No Comments
Listen to those who have used self storage before. It would be in your best interest to understand what they went through so you can repeat the same things or stay away from some of things they did. Using a Wexford Heights self storage facility can be an easy process once you know what is going on. If you do not know what is going on it is very simple to get lost in the horror stories of self storage. The great thing is that it does not have to be a horrible experience. It can be a great experience if you know what to look for a have managers that work on site to help you. Use the resources that you have and do not always depend on you to make the best decisions when it comes to self storage.
Managers at your local Wexford Heights self storage facility have probably hear and see it all. If not they probably know someone who has. When a customer asks them what size they need and the manager asks them what is being stored, they get all kinds of different answers. It is always a good idea to put as many things into boxes as you can for safe storage. If you have an unusual item for storage, check to see if there is a specific box for that for some added safety. This way you can stack similar things on top of other similar things and save some space. Remember if the weight of things is too heavy to stack on top of each other, doing not do it. It might seem secure when you first stack them, but when you come back, the boxes at the bottom could be damaged. That is not what you are looking forward to happening. Be careful when stacking your belongings.
One thing people do no realize is that there is a difference between climates controlled spaces and standard space. For that reason people will store anything in a standard space and it could get damaged. The reason some people get Wexford Heights self storage, is so they can put their items in the storage facility and leave them there. So that means that they will not come to check on it for a really long time, thus if something is temperature sensitive, it could get molded or warp. Treat any wood surfaces with a wood protectant prior to storage to prevent the item from drying out and becoming warped. That will make a considerable difference if you are planning on storing wood in a standard space.
The way people save money by using self storage is that they save floor space. The more space you have on the floor the more you can put in there. It is really like the game of Tetris. If you strategically put things into the Wexford Heights self storage space, you can get a smaller space which will save you money. Saving money is the name of the game. The better you are at saving money, the smarter you end up being. Your wallet will thank you. One way you can do this by storing lawn and garden tools in unused trash cans while they are in storage. This will free up valuable floor space. Sometimes people will just throw those things in the storage space and will take up precious room and it will not be organized.

Some Basic Self Storage TipsBy jeff on February 9, 2011 | No Comments
It is hard sometimes getting advice from others. We as people do not always like to have someone tell us what to do even if that advice is good for us. Some times we like to learn from the bumps on our head versus the bumps on the head of some one else. If someone has already gone through the same experience that we have it would make sense to learn from them? One would think so, but there are a lot of people out there are could be considered hard headed or even stubborn. Even with that said people know that they are not the first people to think of self storage and storing, so why would they consider their selves storage geniuses? The great thing is that you have your local Weston self storage managers there at your disposal. All you have to do is ask them a question and they will help you out as best as they can.
Even if you decide to do your research online instead of talking to a manager at one of the Weston self storage facilities, take heed to what they are saying. They could give you such advice on how to choose the right Weston self storage facility, what type of things you can store, and also how to put things together in order to take up less space. The advice that people give can save you time, effort and also which people consider the most important, money.
One tip that you might hear when you are looking for a Weston self storage facility is that you should go for a storage facility that is constructed of all steel, and look for concrete floors as well. Solid construction will ensure the safety of your goods. You do not have to worry about the building collapsing under wind or harsh weather conditions. The sturdy frame will keep your belongings under a roof and with sides for quite sometime. That will also tell you that the facility is committed to doing well for you that they invested in steel frames.
If you are wondering what a storage unit is good for, a storage unit is perfect for seasonal lawn furniture that takes up room in a garage. Also, lawn tools work great in the space as well. You can use this space for all kinds of other things as well, but a lot of people have seasonal items that they do not want exposed to the harshness of the other season. People want to ensure that they are not messing up their investments because they are not storing them properly. That is why it is important to go to your local Weston self storage to find a storage space that will work best for you.
Anything that gets broken down prior to storage such as bed frames should be tied together for easy transportation later. The good thing about planning ahead is that you save more time later. If you put things that are similar together you can move it out of your Weston self storage facility quickly. No one wants to take the whole day to move out your belongings. They want to get in and out as quickly as they can in order to get back to the rest of their day.

Not Everything Can Go Into StorageBy jeff on February 7, 2011 | No Comments
Managers at your local Teston self storage facility have encountered customers wanting to store various objects in their Teston self storage unit. The thing is the managers that work on site ensure that not just anything is able to be stored. There has to be some limitations on what can and will go into the storage unit for safety and protection of everyone. Customers do not seem to understand that though process and they want to store whatever they necessary to store. This is one of the reasons that the manager asks the customer what they plan on storing. They are hoping to eliminate some things being stored in the unit that is prohibited.
If you are thinking of renting a storage unit, you should check with your local manager about any items that may be prohibited. There are many things that you do not think you can store, that is clearly detailed on your lease agreement. Old tires can be at the top of the list. Some people like to keep old tires for a reason that is beyond the comprehension of some people. The old rubber can be used for many different purposes, but cannot be stored in a Teston self storage unit. The facility in Ontario does not want the facility to look like, smell and appear to be a junk yard.
Another rule of thumb is anything living or dead cannot be stored at a storage facility. . Dead would include taxidermy items or other things of that nature. Living items are plants or aquariums with live fish. Not everyone understands the thoughts around this rule, but they tend to go with it just because they were told not to store it there. If you think about it, most things that are dead do end up having some kind of odor. You have to keep in mind that you are not the only person that is storing there. There are other people around you. For that reason, people would appreciate it if you did not have anything in there that could die and cause an odor. They do not want to walk into their self storage unit one day and get knocked off of their feet by the odor.
Also the thing about storing things that were once living is that they attract things into the unit that can be harmful to your belongings and the belongings of others. They can attract rodents and other living creatures into the storage space. They can and will get into the perishable items and cause it to become gross and infested. On top of that the organisms that are growing from it can produce more organisms. This can lead to a storage unit infestation that can affect the neighboring storage units. Nobody wants that so, do not store anything perishable.

The Benefits of Climate Controlled Self StorageBy jeff on February 7, 2011 | No Comments
There are many reasons that people need to store their belongings for reasons of moving to needing extra space. At your local St. Thomas Self Storage facility there are many different unit sizes and types available for you to use. Not everyone knows why they need one unit type over another. Below are a few reasons why you might go with a climate controlled unit over the rest of the unit types.
You should use a climate controlled space if you have a lot of breakables to be stored. The reason for this is because the spaces will typically be stored inside the St. Thomas Self Storage facility. This will give you a little added security for your breakables. People feel a little better having a person coming down the hallways to their storage space versus being able to drive right up to the unit, opening the door, taking their belongings and driving away.
Another reason to get a climate controlled space is because you do not like having your belongings in the extreme heat or the cold. In Ontario customers still get all the seasons. Of course some seasons are a little harsher than other season. For that reason, people want to ensure that they are getting a space that is climate controlled. They do not want their belongings to freeze or become overheated.
If you have family heirlooms to be stored, you should consider using a climate controlled space at your local St. Thomas Self Storage facility. This way, the consistent temperature inside will ensure that they stay safe and sound. It would be just like storing those heirlooms in your home and that is what the St. Thomas Self Storage facility is trying to accomplish with climate controlled space.
Are you concerned about possible mold growth in your storage space? If this is the case then you should really look into climate controlled storage at your St. Thomas Self Storage facility. Mold grows in areas where there is high humidity. A climate controlled space would prevent this from happening. With the constant temperature that a climate controlled space has, you should not worry about that at all. Plus you are not going to be storing anything in your storage space that would create moisture so you should be fine. If this is a concern of yours then you should look to a climate controlled space.
Sometimes people want a climate controlled space just because they that is what they were told they should get. There is not really a method to why they were told they needed it. With the belongings that they will be storing, they really only need to have a space that is standard. That does not matter to them really, they still want to go with the climate controlled space. They simply want to know that their belongings will be in an environment that is like their own home. With that said the climate controlled space is the way to go. Customers are generally happy with their decision so the managers at the facility do not question their motives. The managers do not argue with the customer either because it does cost more to use a climate controlled space. The more money the customer spends, the more the facility makes.

Packrats Maintain Their Hobby & Home With Self St...By jeff on November 30, 2010 | No Comments

Buttonville storage places are popping up. People are buying more stuff and the house is not big enough now to hold it all.
Why do we need so much stuff anyway? We are people who love stuff. In college, we had nothing and were happy. We could fit everything we had in our tiny little dorm rooms and we were happy. Stuff can bring you down man. It costs a fortune to move stuff.
Buttonville storage looks full. Every storage locker we saw had a lock on it. Everybody seems to have a storage locker these days. It is almost a cool thing to do. We go to our Buttonville storage place and see other people doing what we do. They are moving boxes back and forth, and back and forth, and back and forth. We move boxes back and forth too. Put this box here; move this box back to the house and what is in this box? We can not remember. We should have marked all these boxes but we forgot a few to mark. We will have to open them up now and see what is inside them. Will it be junk or something we can use? In addition, if it is junk why are we storing it in the first place?
All people who store junk should unite and fight the junk wars. We will not store junk anymore. We are starting today not to store junk anymore. We will not buy junk, store junk, or try to fix junk. We are anti junk from now on. We will fight junk on every level and call out junk. China should stop making junk. We bought some toys from China once and the little action figures broke in my hand. We did not even get to play with them. They turned to junk right from the package. We think the package was tougher than the toys inside. Not good, we tell you. No more junk.
We buy junk cars too but they can not fit into our Buttonville storage space. Thank goodness. A space that big to store a junk car, well, we will not talk about that anymore. We had a series of junk cars when we first married and we did not store any of them at any time. We do not buy junk cars anymore. We need brakes and junk cars have bad brakes most of the time. I asked my son why he bought that junk the other day and he said because he liked it. We stopped to ponder his answer and it made sense.
We all like junk. We buy junk and store it at Buttonville storage in Ontario, Canada, and relish the fact we have junk to look at and use whenever we want. Junk is everywhere in our storage unit or space, and we like it. We like our junk and will buy more. Our junk crusade may never happen. Our hearts might not be into it. We might just have to keep all our junk forever and ever. My son likes junk too. He can have his junk. Go buy junk, son. It is OK.
