How long does it take to fill up a ten by thirty-storage space in Cundles storage areas in the middle of winter?  We had to find out the hard way one time last year.  A friend of ours was moving here for some odd reason and we came along with her.  We said we would help her move and we did.  We did not know it would be in a Cundles storage space though, until we got the postcard.

There is so much to do in Canada, I am so happy, and we want you to come visit us and enjoy the great outdoors and ski.  We love to ski.  Do you and your wife love to ski?  We are paying for your airplane tickets so you can not say no.  We said no.  We do not want to snow ski anywhere.  We could just sit in cabins or watch other people ski and oh, by the way, is Cundles near anything like skiing?

We live in Texas and Texas does not get snow or cold weather very often.  We have no winter gloves or snow boots.  We can not afford to buy snow boots or anything involving snow to use one time.  We would need Cundles storage too than just to store the junk we need to buy.

We made other plans and we do not know how to ice skate or ice anything.  We put ice in glasses and tea, not fly around in it.  We will fall and break legs and arms and the dog will slide around and bite people.  Hockey players will beat us up, and mountains will fall on us and crush us with snow and glaciers, and a free ticket is nice, but we can not go.  I had to put my foot down you understand.  Snow and ice is not good for a person from Texas.  I remember Dallas a few years ago.  Too many accidents.  Everybody’s insurance went up after that year.  We can not drive in snowy places or ice.  We will crash and die.  We saw how Texans drive in the snow and ice and it is no good.  We have bad balance and skiing looks very hard on TV.  How can we do that anyway?  We rent stuff?  It might break or I will break.  The dog will break too.  He will not like the airplane ride either.  How much does he cost to fly anyway?  You know he gets airsick.  He hates going up in the air.  He does not like to even jump if you have noticed.  I do not jump either.  We can not jump on skis.  We can not jump on an airplane either, going to a Cundles storage place to move our dear old friend and ski.  We just can’t.

Vanier storage units in the great place of Quebec, Canada are busy.  Managers work pretty hard running a self storage facility.  A lot of these self storage places rent trucks too for extra money and revenues, and also to supply the customers with an easy way to access a truck to move their stuff.  Sometimes companies will forge ahead with each other, and they will rent trucks.  U-Haul is the biggest rental truck place in the United States of America, and some companies have used their trucks to use to rent to their own customers.  The rules are not as bad as managers had what is called a rotation truck, and long one-way trucks.  A rotation truck is a U-haul truck that stays locally in the move.  They are usually smaller trucks like ten footers or fourteen footers in American measurements and they can be rented as many as three times a day.  This could bring in a lot of extra money, sometimes as much as ten thousand dollars a month.  Some managers made commissions on these rented trucks so the incentives were high.  If the commissions were as much as five percent of all sales of the rented truck, a manager could make a couple of hundred dollars extra a month.  If a manager can use the time very well, a rotation truck can be rented three times a day.  An average smaller move might take only three hours for the customer to do, so one could rent a truck from nine in the morning to noon, than one o clock to three, than four to the rest of the night, or until morning before the office opens and the cycle could happen all over again.  Renting one truck three times a day, on most days, is a very good way to make money for the manager and the company.

London storage units are located in the great place of Ontario, Canada.  Whenever we travel around the world scoping out storage places, we think of all the stories and experiences we have had as self storage managers a while back.  We have progressed in our company and now we travel.  It is a fun job and we enjoy it.  We started out as a husband and wife team over fifteen years ago, as many do in the storage industry.  Things have changed now, as more professional and sales orientated people are hired by the storage industry.  The wide-open spaces of Canada make us think of some of the self storage places we managed that had wide-open spaces near us.  In Denver, Colorado in the United States of America, we managed this self storage place for a short while to kind of clean it up and get it going again.  We did that too for a while and that was also quite fun.  We have had a lot of fun things happen to us in this industry as we look back on those memories.  A lot of times, the storage places are in big cities surrounded by big city stuff, so coming to the country is rather cool for us too.  In Denver, we had a lot of open property around us at one of the self storage places.  One day we looked out in the distance behind the property and saw a man walk very slowly in his fenced in area.  We kept watching wondering what he was doing and than it dawned on us when we saw some of his friends come into the picture.  His friends were Llamas.  The Llamas followed him around the fenced in area.  When he turned, they turned.  When he stopped, they stopped.  Every day we were at that property that man would walk around and his friends would follow.  There must of have been around fifteen or so of them, and we really could not understand why he did that more than once a day.  It happened in the afternoon too.

London storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada made us think about llamas.  Go figure.  It was the wide-open spaces that triggered this memory of llamas and this man parading around the fenced in area.  We were pretty close to the city of Denver, but it was more like a suburb than a city location.  It was kind of in the mornings before we opened up the self storage place to sip coffee and in the some times foggy air, watch the man and his llamas stroll around.  The mountains were in the background and the peaceful way it all went down was a pretty cool way to start a Monday morning in Denver, Colorado in the United States of America.  Sometimes we would have time to get close to see the animals up close and we would lean against the fence and peer at the llamas.

Leaside storage units are located in the great place of Ontario, Canada.  Storage units have become quite popular in the last thirty years or so, and have made a lot of people a lot of money putting them up.  The industry has changed quite a lot since the beginning and now one can see these new modern buildings in most big cities and even smaller towns.  Some of these self storage places rent trucks to their customers as a way to enhance revenues and it also makes the move for the customer more affordable and maybe easy too.  We were running a storage place in Chicago, Illinois a while back and we rented U-haul trucks to customers.  We had as many as ten trucks on our property at times, but other times we scurried to find a truck for our customers.  As in everything in life, sometimes things do not go as we want them to.  Sometimes trucks break down or lights fail to work or other things like that.  It is a great big hassle when a truck breaks down with all your stuff in the back of it.  Some customers can get very angry as they wait for the U haul people to come fix the truck, or bring them a new one.  We tried our best to make sure all the trucks were in good repair and working order, but things do happen and we all know this.  One day an older man and a young kid, maybe in his early teens or so, came in our office to rent one of these U haul trucks.  They only needed it for a short time and were only going a short distance.  The kid was very excited about the whole transaction and he appeared to be a little special, like in special education mode.  He was a great kid though, and we respected the great patience of his father too as he laughed and joked all through the retail transaction.

Leaside storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada may rent trucks too.  We do not know for sure, but it is a trend in the storage business.  Well, as you can probably guess, we received a phone call a couple hours later from the man and kid who rented the U haul truck.  It had broken down.  The good news was that the truck was all packed up and they were on their way back to our self storage place to unload their stuff in it.  The U haul company could not another truck out, so we decided we would send a tow truck out there to tow him and the kid back here.  It was only a few miles.  They agreed and everything was fine we hoped.  We thought they would be angry.  To our great surprise, they were not angry.  We were in the office when we saw the U haul truck being towed by a very big tow truck pull up in our parking lot.  The two people came out running from the truck towards our office.

Innisfil storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada saw us coming.  Our family had one day to move all our stuff out of our tiny apartment to self storage and actually go to work the very next day.  The rest of the family could not help yours truly due to doing the things they had to do that day, so it was this person right here who took the whole apartment on his back and did the move he had to do.  It was winter, snow was falling, and it was cold.  The moving truck was parked pretty close to our apartment door and we had a little room to do it without dragging stuff too far.  The family said goodbye to each other and off they went and there was the task ahead; get everything out of this apartment and into the moving truck.  We were young which means we did not have to much stuff to move, but moving is hard because there is always something too heavy or too bulky or too odd of a shape to move in a good safe way.  It was snowing too that day, and everything was cold and slippery.  Moving washer and dryers would have been not too bad except the snow was falling on the truck ramp and it was so slippery, this author had to sit on my butt and drag the washer and dryer up the ramp as the legs and arms heaved hoed all the way up the ramp.  It was fitting, but moving was important.  We were getting better jobs, but we were replacing a bad manager with us, and we had to go down and start today, this day, to keep the store open.  So we had to move everything, and once we got there, we had to look good too for the customers.  The wife and kids were going ahead, so the wife could start the job, put the kids somewhere, and wait for me to arrive.  This was a pretty good challenge for us and chair after chair and bed after bed made it on the truck.  The sweat was pouring down my face even though the temperature was very cold.  The coat came off with the hat and gloves soon.

Innisfil storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada probably never saw someone move so fast putting things in one of their storage spaces.  It is always easier to get things out of a truck than putting things in a truck, so this person was throwing and setting and pushing the whole house on the self storage parking lot and trying to determine what should go where to make it all fit.  Other people who happened to be there could not believe this little one hundred and twenty pound person was moving all this stuff all by himself with no coat on, in a snow driven day.  The furniture was growling at the way it was all going down, and one brave person actually grabbed the other end of our couch and helped the cause of getting in it the storage unit.  Everything fit.

Fairways storage units in Alberta, Canada sell products.  These products can help the customer move more safely and make their lives easier.  Last time we talked about all the different kinds of boxes.  We touched on small boxes, medium boxes, and large boxes.  We said small boxes are for heavy things like books, medium boxes are for toys and lighter stuff then books, and large boxes for clothes.  There are extra large boxes too, for clothes, again we think.  There are other types of boxes too that are pretty neat to use.  One of these kinds of boxes is a small box with slits in it as to be able to pack and move expensive glasses or cups.  These boxes come in two parts.  The first part is the box itself.  It is a small box like the one we have been talking about.  The other part of the box is a cardboard piece that fits into another cardboard piece to give you a checkerboard effect.  This part goes inside the box, and you spread it open and it gives you individual squares with walls to hold one glass in it.  A box like this can hold sometimes two dozen glasses.  The second part is really two parts in itself, kind of like a second story of a house.  A dozen glasses sit on the bottom of the box, next a cardboard piece is put in, than the next piece goes in, than a dozen more glasses.  Many people will stuff each glass with newspaper or foam or anything kind of soft to protect the glasses.  Our family has used these boxes before, and not a single glass broke in our move.  So if you have expensive or glasses you really care for, use these boxes to feel safe.  They do cost more money than the average box though.

Fairways storage units in Alberta, Canada sell products like this.  Another cool box is a wardrobe box.  They come two different ways.  One is called a shorty wardrobe box, and the other is a normal or just a wardrobe box.  The shorty wardrobe box is cheaper, maybe by two American dollars.  We live in the United States of America, so we are not sure what a box from Canada would cost.  People use shorties to hang up shorter clothes like shirts and jeans or sweaters.  A normal wardrobe box can hang up coats inside them, and longer clothes like dresses.  The box has a metal bar in it, towards the top, that you can duct tape in, and than you can hang clothes over the bar with coat hangers.  It is a great idea to keep clothes hung up, instead of crammed into a box.

Dover Glen storage units in Alberta, Canada have products to sell.  These products relate straight to the moving experience as one can think, and really do help people in their move, or storing of their valuable things.  Boxes are the first thing that comes to mind when moving.  You need boxes.  Boxes come in all sizes and shapes and are not to be taken lightly as a purchase when you are moving or storing things.  There are small boxes, medium boxes, and large boxes.  There are wardrobe boxes, rubber maid containers, and boxes with slits in them.  Small boxes are good for books and heavy objects like that.  You do not want to put books in a large box for a number of reasons.  When you go to pick them up, you may strain your back.  If someone else picks up a large box full of heavy books and he or she strain their backs, they may sue you.  Do not trick the people who may be helping you move by filling boxes up with books and heavy objects that are too heavy to lift.  Spend the extra money and buy more small boxes to haul books and heavy objects.  The small boxes stack well too, and this could still save you money by taking up more of the space in your moving truck than wasting space.  Small boxes can be safely stacked six high.  That is what the maker of the boxes say, or least most of them.  Some times, they print that right on the box, to help you out.  We have a tendency of stacking boxes as high as we can reach, or all the way up to the roof of the truck.  Top boxes may crush the lower boxes though, and your stuff may be crushed too, or badly damaged.

A customer recently was deploying in a month out of the country for about a year. The customer was told that she could store here at their local Vanier self storage facility until she returned. She had never stored before and did not know how things worked and asked for my help. That was not a problem and I was more than happy to help her with her situation. This is a situation that comes up quite often so I had a lot of experience in dealing with this sort of thing. I always like when the situation people are inquiring about come up that is right up my alley.

Of course the first thing I had to do is ask her a few questions to find out what size she would need. Depending on what she would need, I will be able to find out what size they are looking for. Usually when people let us know what they are storing, I will be able to help them find the right space they are looking for. I then asked the customer if they preferred climate control or just a standard unit. Most of the time people do not know what the difference between the two actually is. After I explained it to her she understood and decided to go with the climate controlled space. They figured since they would be gone for so long, they would not want to deal with the climate changes in Quebec.

To help her out when storing and getting ready to move, I told her that we have moving and storage supplies here at the Vanier self storage office. This was great for her because that would help her with packing everything up nicely for her move. Getting ready to move can be a great time for you. This could be the time in which you are finally able to move to that home that you have wanted to move into for quite some time. Now the day has come to where you can set foot in your new home. There is a certain layer of excitement mixed with a layer of being terrified. You know that this day has come, but you also know that there is a lot that has to get done this day. Try to focus on the positives of this moving day and do not put too much stock in the negative thoughts. This is especially true if you have already planned for everything to go right.
