Chance was a storage dog.  Chance was a small schnauzer who roamed the storage place parking lot and property with me every night.  It was perfect for us.  The storage facility closed at nine o clock and no one else could get in to go to their storage spaces.  This is the time we would go out in our fenced in area and walk around checking for anything that might not quite be right.  We lived on property at the time which means there was an apartment attached to the office where the managing couple would live.  This is how it was in the glory day of the industry.  We are just kidding of course, living right next to where you work had advantages and disadvantages too.  It was hard to be late for work if you live right behind the office.

We wonder if Clairville storage, right here in Canada, does the same thing, or if any storage places in Canada have live on site places.  It is going away because new storage buildings do not have these apartments built on site anymore.  Couples running storage places are going by the wayside.  Progress is hard to stop, but, for the most part, living on site was not too bad.  Especially if one has a dog.  We had two dogs, but Chance was the one who liked to patrol the area more than the other one.  You could see how much he liked it, as if he was a police dog or something like that, rooting out crime or preventing it.  In addition, it did stop crime.  Every time criminals see a manager running around a storage property at two in the morning, well, they will go somewhere else to break into storage spaces.  They just cut the locks and help themselves.  Chance was not going to let that happen though, we were serious about our job you know.  No one dared to mess with us.  Chance was a hefty twenty pounds and when he was young, he was very tough.  We nicknamed him the Tank because he was strong and stout.  We were quite the team running and walking and playing hide and go seek between walls and buildings.  He would always find me though, and I loved him very much.  He passed on last year at a ripe old age of eighteen years old.  I am not lying.  He lived to be eighteen years old.

Clairville storage could use a dog like Chance and so many others too.  We used to jog together and Chance would bark at any small sight of anything that might not be right.  It is fun to have dogs that you can run around with late at night.  We lived in a lot of places on site from Denver to Houston, and now I am in a Clairville storage facility thinking of my beloved dog Chance.  We have since gotten another dog, a poodle named Boscoe.  He is not a storage dog because we do not live on site anymore.  I am a teacher now and enjoy that too.  I have a picture of Chance on my basement door.  I laugh thinking of him, but mostly I am sad he is gone.  I hope someday we meet again in a spiritual way.  You never know.

  • The Importance of Keeping Your Storage Facility Clean...

There are a lot of things to do as a manager of an old storage place.  We managed one a long time ago in Houston Texas that needed a lot of work.  Burlington storage places in Canada are newer than this, one so we think there is less work to do at them.

The one in Houston was full of weeds and broken fences and needed a paint job very badly.  It takes a long time to paint every single storage door.  The paint also has be a color that will not fade easy and last a long time.  Some colors fade quicker than others do.  When everything takes money, and you want to make money, paint is important.  The gutters were a mess too on the property.  They were broken and bent and falling down.  They were also full of leaves and junk.  It took me all day to clean gutters on the buildings in this storage facility.  We were on ladders all day.

The Burlington storage in Canada is different.  After the gutter cleaning, we swept the whole property.  We power washed the buildings before we painted, and power washed all the sidewalks and concrete.  We sprayed for bugs, as it is hot in Texas and full of bugs.  They have roaches in Texas, which are nasty little insects to have around.  They are ugly and most people prefer to be without them.  In Florida the roaches can fly.  They are big too, and can startle one even if you are used to them.  We do not like bugs, and our customers do not like bugs either.  Some customers do not want bug spray in their storage units.  We ask people first if they want us to spray.  Some say no.

We believe in Burlington storage Ontario, there are less bugs to deal with.  The battle of bugs could be tough.  In Key West, Florida, ants are everywhere.  We wore gloves to kill them, but it was a losing battle.  We never saw so many ants in our lives.  Florida to Texas is a lot of bugs.

Maybe working in Canada will not be so bad if we choose to move.  Snow or bugs are the choice, but beaches and nice warm weather is good too.  Hey, Canada is not cold all the time.  Texas can get cold too.  People wear winter coats in Texas too.  It also floods in Houston Texas because it is so low to the ground.  I mean close to sea level, close to the gulf.  It rains so hard sometimes the streets flood within minutes.  The water can reach your car tires when you are driving.  They call it cabbage rain and the raindrops are huge.

We like hockey, cowboys, and a little snow once in awhile.  How much snow is in Canada anyway?  One or two feet or three feet.  We can handle that.  Snow sounds like fun sometimes.  We can learn to ice skate and snow mobile and make things from ice.  It would be like art.  Is it very cold there?  How cold?  Is it below zero all the time or just a few days out of the year?  Where is Burlington storage in Canada?  Is it by Toronto?

Storeroom business has grown tremendously over the past few years. Many businessmen now want to start a rewarding warehouse business centre, and this has made this field all the more competitive. There are a large number of mini storage owners competing in the market today. In such a scenario, if a storeroom owner wants a steady flow of clients, he or she must offer quality services at attractive prices. There are number of ways in which you can offer competitive priced cargo space or place for safekeeping services to your customers.

Here are some ways that you can consider

    Offer Variable Pricing

Different customers have different requirements of size of storeroom. Also not all customers would want to store their belongings for a long period. Some people would like to keep their goods with the storing centre for just a few days some others would like to keep them for months. Only in case of relocation, customers may want to store their goods for a few years. So it makes sense to offer variable pricing to customers depending upon their requirement of the storeroom. You can also attract long term customers by offering them a discounted price or some additional benefits.

Research The Average Demand In Terms Of Size Of The Units

Since the storeroom price is based on per square feet area, the customer would like to rent a unit size that suits his or her needs. You need to do the basic groundwork research on the demand for the average size for store units in your locality. Naturally you would be providing cargo space units of varied sizes. Providing more units of average size could help you in better use of the total space. Offering the store unit size according to the demand would result in higher profits per square feet of the area for the mini storage owners .

    Providing Quality Services

The quality of the customer service is extremely important for any storeroom business success. If you provide better customer services by following quality standards, then even if you have a similar pricing as your competitors, you would have an edge over them. A better customer service would speak for itself, hence reduced promotional expenses. If the mini storage owners is consistently providing better services to his customers, then this would also help him in retaining his valuable customers. If the customer is treated well, he would remember your good service for a long time. Also it is very difficult to convince and attract new customers. So if you put in efforts to retain your customers, it would significantly reduce your advertising costs.

    Take The Online Route

It is not possible for a storeroom owner to stay in this competitive market for long without advertising his or services. However, if you advertise your products on the World Wide Web, it would significantly lower your advertising expenses. It would also help in reducing your overall costs and you would be able to offer competitive prices to your customers.

    Efficient Workforce

If you want to run your business well, you need to do proper workforce planning. You need to have the right number of employees for each task. If you want to provide quality customer services then it is important that you train your workforce well so that they can handle their tasks efficiently. A well trained workforce means satisfied customers that in turn would help in reducing the overall costs.

By following the above mentioned tips, mini storage owners would be able to keep the total costs at the minimum yet offer effective price for the storeroom to the customers.
