  • Move Your Home To Self Storage
By admin on June 28, 2010 | No Comments Comments

When you are trying to move your home, it is easy to overlook many of the services that can make your life easier.  I mean, chances are that you are very stressed out when you are setting about moving your home.  Chances are that you do not want to deal with placing any additional phone calls, and that you do not want to pay any more bills.  The bills, especially, tend to pile up when you are moving.  This, I fully understand.  However, if you are really trying to make your move as smooth and easy as possible, then you are going to want to take a look at a few of the moving services that are in your area.  Of course, this article can serve to point you in the right direction in these regards.

The first thing that you are going to want to look into, reader, are your local colleges.  In fact, you are going to be able to find some remarkably cheap moving services if you are willing to employ a few hungry college students.  I have known many a college student who is ready and willing to use his or her free time to move a heavy object for money.  Pianos, large boxes, entertainment centers, extremely cumbersome furniture items, nothing is out of the question, here.  So long as you are willing to shell out some money, you are going to be able to find some students to get the job done for you.

Of course, if you are looking for a more reliable moving crew, then you are going to want to look into the professional moving services that are in your area.  Typically speaking, these moving services are going to be able to provide you with a truck, and they will be able to take more of your stuff in one trip.  Of course, unlike their college counterparts, they are going to be insured, meaning that you are not going to be liable if they injure themselves on your property with one of your items.  I cannot stress the importance of insurance enough, here.  If a college student injures himself on your property, then he can, and very well might, sue you.

But before you shell out any of your money, you are going to want to get a good idea of whether or not you are going to a reliable company.  Of course, there are several ways to make sure that you are not tossing your money down the drain, here.  You can, for one, head to the online forums and ask your local peers, seeing if any of them have used the company in the past.  You can also head out to the service review sites.  These sites specialize in compiling customer reviews from across the web, and they will usually be able to give you a pretty good idea of whether or not you are hiring a decent service.  Know, reader, that doing this kind of research is absolutely crucial if you want to make sure that you are not placing your belongings in the path of danger.

At the end of the day, you are going to be very glad that you hired a moving service.  When your back is not pulled out at the end of the day, you are going to be happy that you called in the extra help.

  • Three Options For Moving
By admin on February 11, 2010 | No Comments Comments

Are you trying to figure out how you are going to move your belongings from one place to another? Are you worried that you are going to forget about something? Are you sick and tired of throwing your belongings away when you run out of time to move? If these are problems that you’re facing, then you simply have to be sure that you are taking a little bit more time to consider your options. At the end of the day, you are going to discover that it is not all that hard for you to move to a new place if you are ready and willing to plan it out well. Of course, this article will help you figure things out by going over some of the options that you are going to want to consider.

The first thing that you could do, here, is rent a self storage unit in the city where you are moving. By renting a self storage unit, you are going to have a nice, clean place to keep all of your belongings until you make it into the city. Of course, you are going to want to be sure that you rent your self storage unit from a property that can accept deliveries, as you are going to be shipping all of your belongings to your unit. While this is going to run you a little bit of money in postage and rent, you are going to be able to rest assured that all your belongings are being kept safe inside of your self storage unit until you begin your move.

Now, if you would rather avoid sending your items through the mail, then you are going to have to consider several other options. Of course, the first one that should come to mind, here, is that of renting a large moving truck. Indeed, if you are going to be moving all of your belongings yourself, then you are going to want to be sure that you have the truck for the job. While you may think that you can sneak by with your standard vehicle, this is not going to work out well for you in the long run. You are going to end up wasting a lot of your time, and you are going to end up wasting a considerable amount of gas. Do yourself a favor, here, and be sure that you are renting a moving truck if you are not shipping your belongings.

Of course, your last option, here, is to have an estate sale instead of keeping your belongings. If you feel like it is going to be a huge pain in the rear to hold onto your belongings, then why not simply get rid of them? You are going to be able to recover a little bit of their worth, and you are not going to have to worry about lugging them across the state or country and all of those associated expenses. If you have never considered getting rid of your belongings instead of paying thousands to keep them, then you might want to give it some consideration.

At the end of the day, there is not a whole lot that goes into moving your belongings to a new home. You either ship them, rent a truck, or get rid of them. No matter which route you take, you are going to find the success that you are looking for if you do a good job at planning, and if you do not allow yourself to become overwhelmed with stress. Truly, that is all that you are going to have to do to find success.

  • Move In A Hurry With Self Storage
By admin on February 6, 2010 | No Comments Comments

If you know that you are going to need to move quickly, then there are certain things that you are going to have to take into account. Indeed, moving situations are not always as nice and organized as we would prefer. Thus, when you find yourself in a serious time constraint, it is good to know how to deal with your situation. Of course, if you have not mastered the art of quick moving, then you are going to want to do a little bit of research before you get started with the process. Luckily, it is not all that hard to plan for your upcoming move.

First and foremost, you are not going to want to move unless you have packed your belongings well. This, of course, is going to require that you shop around for all of the moving supplies and packing supplies that you are going to need. Typically speaking, you are not going to need anything too complicated, here. You are going to want to be sure that you have enough boxes to store all of your belongings. Likewise, you are going to want to be sure that they are the right sizes. If you do not pack your belongings in the proper boxes, then you are not protecting them as well as you can. Of course, to finish things off, here, you are going to want to be sure that you are buying some packing supplies. Packing paper, bubble wrap, and tape are going to make it a lot easier for you to keep your belongings safe while they are in tow.

Moving on, here, you are going to want to do a thorough sweep of your local facilities to get a good feel for the types of rooms that they offer. If you know that you are going to need special accommodations for your belongings, then you are going to have to be sure that you are renting a self storage unit from a facility that is not going to place your belongings at risk. If, for example, you know that you are going to be storing a lot electronics, then you are going to have to be sure that you are renting a unit that comes with climate control and humidity control. If, on the other hand, you know that you are going to be storing lots of paper documents and clothes, then you may not need to worry as much about finding a climate controlled unit.

Finally, here, you are going to have to be sure that you have a moving truck. Sure, you can move with your standard vehicle, cramming it full of your belongings and making multiple trips. Really, though, you are going to find that this is not going to allow for you to move very quickly. By renting a large moving truck, you can guarantee that you are not going to have to make multiple trips. When it comes down to moving on a deadline, you simply cannot go without a moving truck.

At the end of the day, you are not going to have that much trouble moving quickly if you make use of all of the services that are at your disposal. Just be sure that you are doing your research correctly, and that you are not making your decisions without putting a proper amount of thought into them. These tactics are only going to spell disaster. So long as you have about two or three weeks to plan things, then you are not going to have to worry about very much at all when you move.

  • Spring Cleaning And Moving Containers
    By admin on April 11, 2009 | 2 Comments2 Comments Comments

It is springtime and you may be getting the itch to start doing some spring cleaning. If so, why not start with your basement? It has probably accumulated a lot of everything, one thing from the bedroom, a few things from the living room, etc. until it looks like a random conglomeration of junk that is just begging to be cleaned up and organized! If you need some tips to help you clean up your basement, check out the list below. Hopefully this will help you a bit and make your work just that much easier.
    1. You will want to obtain moving containers or boxes. Moving containers are absolutely essential when cleaning your basement or even any part of your house at all. If you already have moving containers, that is great. If not, go purchase some, and do not be shy. You will need plenty of them for a job like the basement. If you feel that boxes will work, that is fine, too. Just remember that a box will not keep out mildew, dampness and even water quite like plastic moving containers will. But if you decide to go with boxes instead, and your basement is not the damp or leaky type, try going to a regular merchandise retail store during late night or early morning hours. This is normally the time that stocking of shelves is done and all of the sturdy broken down boxes are basically yours for the asking if you want them. No need to go out and purchase boxes this way!
    2. You will have to set your own criteria on which items you will keep and why. But of all of the items you go through and decide you would rather not have around the house, you should label them. Mark your boxes or moving containers with labels that read four separate things, garage sale, trash, recycle, donate. How do you know what to throw away and what is worth selling? Well, start by looking at everything objectively instead of from a sentimental standpoint, as you are probably inclined to do. If an item works well and is not overly worn or falling apart, stick it in garage sale or donation. If it does not work or its only purpose is its sentimental value, you will either want to keep it for old times sake, or simply trash it. A good tip is to try to limit what you keep sentimentally. There is nothing bad about sentiment, in moderation, that is. Limit yourself to a certain predetermined number of items that you can keep for this reason and stick to it.
    3. Once you have gone through the garage sale items, you might want to make sub categories for this one. Maybe there is an item that would sell better online, making better money than merely at a garage sale. The same sub category method goes for trash as well. There are some trash items that are toxic and therefore need to be separate than everything else. Keep this in mind when throwing your stuff away.
    4. After you have separated everything and have decided what to keep, you will want to attack what you have decided will remain in your house. If you are not planning on using it anytime soon, stick it in a box and label it appropriately. Try to keep the same room items together in one box.

If you have not cleared out enough space by the end of the day, rent a Woodbridge storage unit to keep the overstock.
