Hagermans Corners storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada have broken items in them. This is part three of our discussion on how to pack your items you are moving in a correct and safe way. The things you need are usually sold at the self storage facility themselves, and you need to look at these items and see which ones you need or want to keep your items safe and not broken or damaged by the move. Last time we said please buy covers for your beds. In this blog we will talk about how to pack mirrors or anything with expensive glass in them. Mirrors are very expensive in the United States of America, and we are sure these prices are similar in Canada. We have seen one hundred dollar mirrors and up easy in our stores here in America. When you open up that truck door, look in, and see broken glass, you know something broke. Not a good thing to experience, especially if the glass was heartfelt or expensive. One of our best tricks to use on big or large mirrors is to take two mattresses and stand them up against the wall in the moving truck and placing the large mirror in between them. This supplies a great cushion for your large expensive mirrors and you can see how that would be an effective way to pack. A lot of people will stand up their beds like this to save space and putting glass from tables or mirrors in between the mattresses is a great thing to do. A lot of places in the self storage industry will sell mirror boxes too. They are just like the mattress way, as the mirror boxes have two separate cardboard pieces that the bed goes in between. You than tape the cardboard box pieces to the mirror or to the other side of the box, and you are set. Either way you do it, mirror boxes or the mattress way, your glass will be much safer.
Hagermans Corners storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada have broken glass in them. We used to be managers ourselves, and yours truly has swept up a lot of glass in the day. Another thing we store and move as families or single folk, is aquariums. The trick to storing or moving them is stuffing them with blankets and newspaper or anything like that. Stuff them good too. Get the towels or blankets inside the fish tanks tight and up against the glass. This makes them much more shockproof and a lot of people when they are moving do not think of everything. They might be in a hurry too, but being in a hurry to pack and move, is not a good thing really. More mistakes happen if you are in a hurry moving.
Hagermans Corners storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada have seen broken glass in them. Wrap up glass and cushion them as best you can when you move or store things. Glass breaks often in moves. We moved three fish tanks once; we left them on the fish tank stands and stuffed them with towels. They survived the move and sit in our basement as we speak.

Use Quality Packing Supplies to Safeguard Your Valuab...By jeff on March 8, 2011 | No Comments

Glen Grove storage units in Ontario, Canada have broken items in them. This is caused from bad packing or not so gentle movers. In our last blog on this subject, we talked about how important it is to pack the things you love very well. Now we will talk about what items you may buy at a lot of storage places to make your move better, safer, and less stressful. The first item we always tell people they should buy is covers for your bed. Mattresses are so important and so many people do not, or will not buy them. We know they are not very cheap to buy if you have four or five beds to cover up. They can range from eight dollars to twelve or thirteen dollars per cover in American dollars. A lot of families do not want to spend near fifty bucks on covers for beds. Please do it. We have thrown out hundreds of beds and mattresses in our long career in the storage industry. We are experts at lifting mattresses and beds and carrying them to the dumpster, and flipping them inside. We also had many storage units we had to use on our properties to hold these beds and try to get rid of later. Brand new mattresses that people refused to buy covers for are now in the dump. Beds can collect germs like no other item in your house. People have gotten very sick from sleeping on a dirty mattress or bed, some have died. This is a very serious matter as you can now see. Cover your beds if you are moving them, and especially if you are storing them for any length of time. A new bed could cost up to a thousand dollars American money to buy and an eight-dollar cover could have prevented the damage. Beds can get wet from moisture in the air, rain, and any other kind of water damage that may occur. Again, we have thrown away many beds that had water damage done to them. Do not be next, if you are thinking of moving soon. Moving cost money, accept it.
Glen Grove storage units in the great country of Canada have wet mattresses in them at some point. It is pretty sad and disappointing when you open up your self storage unit and your mattress or bed is all messed up. They can smell bad pretty quick too in a self storage space after a while. Heat causes humidity and humidity causes items to get wet. While we were managing a self storage place in Florida, Key West to be exact, we must have thrown away fifty beds due to moisture. Do not be one of these people to experience that. It will be time to buy a new bed if you do.
Glen Grove storage units in Ontario, Canada have beds in them that are not doing so well. They have no covers on them. They will be damaged more than not, and we know the managers have warned the customers. We warned ours all the time, and as a manager, if you are not selling bed covers, you are doing something wrong. It is not just the sale, but it is helping your customers.

Georgetown storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada are all pretty full. There are not many storage facilities that are empty or performing bad in Canada. People are moving from all over the world to Canada. Jobs are here. When people move from their homes and apartments, they need to pack up all the things they own, move across the country, and resettle. Moving and packing are arts in themselves. Many people move and fill up a large truck with boxes and beds and furniture only to see that they have not packed up all their stuff very well. Things break when this happens, and this could cause a lot more stress for the family that is moving. When your favorite stuff breaks on the way to your new home, it can be rather sad and upsetting. Our own family has moved many times and we have broken things too. The funny thing after all the moves we have made is that most of the things that were broken were not caused by us, but by the movers themselves, not packing our things very well. This makes you sad because you figure that pro movers whom you have paid a lot of money to move you without breaking things, and it does not happen that way. When we packed up our own things, we very seldom broke anything at all. We learned over the years how to do it, and of course, nothing can really replace experience in anything you do in life, because if you do something a few times you do learn some of the best ways to do things and the best way to pack and move things. What you use to pack things up can be very important too. Cheep stuff or cheap boxes could cost you in the long run.
Georgetown storage units in the friendly place of Ontario, Canada have broken things in them. A lot of these storage places will sell items you might want to take a look at to see if anything they have can actually save you money in the long run. If you do not pack your fine china in a good way, you might find yourself looking over a lot of broken dishes and cups when you arrive in your new home. This might cause lots of sadness, and even depression because some of the items we have, mean a whole lot to us. Loved ones who have passed away and left us things mean so much to many people that breaking them on a move is hard to accept. Try to use the things you need to protect your things and do not be cheap in the process. Pay me now or pay me later is a true sentence when it comes to moving.
Georgetown storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada know this too. The managers at this self storage facility have seen broken items too. In our next blog on this subject, we will discuss all the items one could use to make their move better, and less things broken. We will show you some tricks of the trade and ways to save money too. Do not pack in a hurry and do not buy stuff you do not need, but the stuff you do need.

Dover Glen storage units in Alberta, Canada have products to sell. These products relate straight to the moving experience as one can think, and really do help people in their move, or storing of their valuable things. Boxes are the first thing that comes to mind when moving. You need boxes. Boxes come in all sizes and shapes and are not to be taken lightly as a purchase when you are moving or storing things. There are small boxes, medium boxes, and large boxes. There are wardrobe boxes, rubber maid containers, and boxes with slits in them. Small boxes are good for books and heavy objects like that. You do not want to put books in a large box for a number of reasons. When you go to pick them up, you may strain your back. If someone else picks up a large box full of heavy books and he or she strain their backs, they may sue you. Do not trick the people who may be helping you move by filling boxes up with books and heavy objects that are too heavy to lift. Spend the extra money and buy more small boxes to haul books and heavy objects. The small boxes stack well too, and this could still save you money by taking up more of the space in your moving truck than wasting space. Small boxes can be safely stacked six high. That is what the maker of the boxes say, or least most of them. Some times, they print that right on the box, to help you out. We have a tendency of stacking boxes as high as we can reach, or all the way up to the roof of the truck. Top boxes may crush the lower boxes though, and your stuff may be crushed too, or badly damaged.
Dover Glen storage units in Alberta, Canada probably have storage units that have crushed boxes in them. Do not stack them that high. Moving on though, with our conversation about boxes, we can talk about medium boxes now. These are good for toys, knick-knacks, and things like that. Clothes too, but we think large boxes are good for clothes. Lighter stuff should go into the medium boxes, at least lighter then books. Try to lift the boxes once in a while has you pack them. If you are a strong young man, remember, other people might be lifting them too during the move so please do not over pack them and make it impossible for others to move and pick them up. Be considerate to all your moving buddies and family. Besides, over packed boxes could break or rip and your stuff is all over the ground.
Dover Glen storage units in Alberta, Canada have over stuffed boxes in them. They are probably the small kind of box we have been talking about. Now, large boxes are good for clothes. Clothes are not as heavy as other stuff and they usually will not break your back when you try to lift them. Do not put heavy things in a large box nobody can lift but you. Large boxes that are over packed will break and rip and ruin your stuff. Be careful when packing anything. Next time we will discuss other kinds of boxes to use for your move or storing.

Box it Up Right. Get Moving Supplies from Your Storag...By jeff on February 25, 2011 | No Comments

Fairways storage units in Alberta, Canada sell products. These products can help the customer move more safely and make their lives easier. Last time we talked about all the different kinds of boxes. We touched on small boxes, medium boxes, and large boxes. We said small boxes are for heavy things like books, medium boxes are for toys and lighter stuff then books, and large boxes for clothes. There are extra large boxes too, for clothes, again we think. There are other types of boxes too that are pretty neat to use. One of these kinds of boxes is a small box with slits in it as to be able to pack and move expensive glasses or cups. These boxes come in two parts. The first part is the box itself. It is a small box like the one we have been talking about. The other part of the box is a cardboard piece that fits into another cardboard piece to give you a checkerboard effect. This part goes inside the box, and you spread it open and it gives you individual squares with walls to hold one glass in it. A box like this can hold sometimes two dozen glasses. The second part is really two parts in itself, kind of like a second story of a house. A dozen glasses sit on the bottom of the box, next a cardboard piece is put in, than the next piece goes in, than a dozen more glasses. Many people will stuff each glass with newspaper or foam or anything kind of soft to protect the glasses. Our family has used these boxes before, and not a single glass broke in our move. So if you have expensive or glasses you really care for, use these boxes to feel safe. They do cost more money than the average box though.
Fairways storage units in Alberta, Canada sell products like this. Another cool box is a wardrobe box. They come two different ways. One is called a shorty wardrobe box, and the other is a normal or just a wardrobe box. The shorty wardrobe box is cheaper, maybe by two American dollars. We live in the United States of America, so we are not sure what a box from Canada would cost. People use shorties to hang up shorter clothes like shirts and jeans or sweaters. A normal wardrobe box can hang up coats inside them, and longer clothes like dresses. The box has a metal bar in it, towards the top, that you can duct tape in, and than you can hang clothes over the bar with coat hangers. It is a great idea to keep clothes hung up, instead of crammed into a box.
Fairways storage units in Alberta, Canada have wardrobe boxes in them too. Another good thing about these boxes is that if you need to be somewhere right after you land from your move, you can put clothes on that are not all wrinkled up. Cool idea eh? A job interview comes to mind, as one would need a suit to wear that was not in a box all rolled up. Wardrobe boxes are great for situations just like that. So do not worry job seeker, you will be ready for your job interview. Good luck.

Plan Your Move and Save Some MoneyBy jeff on February 22, 2011 | No Comments

Moving day could be an expensive day if you did not take the time to look around. There are many of us that just wants to get the day done and over with and there are people that want to make sure they are saving as much money as possible. What ends up happening is that in your area, you might not have many places that offer the service you are looking for. Because of that, there is not much competition so the prices can be pretty steep. Sometimes you will have to travel outside the area in order to find what you are looking for.
On moving day there are a couple of things you need to plan on spending money on unless you find other methods. You will need a moving truck, movers, boxes and other moving supplies, and of course somewhere to store. You can try to find all of these things before your moving day if you can, this way you are not scrambling on the day of. The only problem is that prices change all the time. Do not make every decision to hasty if you can help it. Make sure that you are making the best budget decisions with the things you need on moving day. If you need help you can always call your local St. Hubert self storage facility.
Moving trucks are a big expense when you get a storage space. Hopefully you can get a special deal on a truck rental when you rent a space through a referral from the site or from the site itself. This is a common practice that most customers look for. The Saint Hubert self storage facility is hoping that you store for a long time which will recoup the cost of using the rental truck. Even though the company says you can use their moving truck for free, it is not free for the company to have it in service.
When moving day is approaching or in your thoughts keep an eye out for specials in the newspaper, phone book, or just when driving down the road. Online specials are more common than most, though. People can spend most of their day looking on line for special deals that can save them a lot of money on moving day. If you are lucky you can find companies that are not doing so well business wise that are offering great deals for you to use their services.
The size of the space is very important. You should pack everything in boxes so that you can get the most use out of the space as possible. This will allow you to go with a smaller space to save money, potentially. Of course if you have furniture and things of the sort you will need to go with a larger space. The Saint Hubert self storage you are trying to store at will assist you with finding the right space. They will have many different storage units for you to choose from and they will work with you to find out which one will fit for you. If you were ahead of the game, you already reserved a space with a great special on it. Then you could have saved money all the way around and moving day will not be as financially stressful.

Proper Packing Makes for Safer MovingBy jeff on February 11, 2011 | No Comments

Many people have good ideas on what boxes will fit particular items that they are trying to store. Not all the time will they be able to box up everything and that is fine. What it comes down to is the opportunity to get as many things into an area of space as you can. In a perfect world you can have boxes stacked all the way up to your eight foot or ten foot ceiling depending on the Windsor self storage facility. We want to be able to get everything that we want into a small space but that is not always a possibility. So hopefully we are able to get as many things into a box as possible.
What people do not know is that there are many different boxes that people can use in order to store their belongings. You should check with your local Windsor self storage facility to see what they have to offer to see if they have something that could match what is at your home. If at all possible you can put everything into boxes and stack them accordingly. It is sure if there were some way to put your couch in a box, a person would do that as well. Sometimes people do not understand why there would be people that would want to box up everything. If you take a moment to think about it, you will realized that Windsor self storage space is a square in size. So if you can put a square box in the corners, then everything would fit nicely.
Many people do not know that you can use boxes for some of the clothing that you have. You can use a wardrobe box if you are storing your wedding or any prom gowns. This will eliminate any damage and wrinkling. This is good for when you want to have someone wear your dress or pull it out to remember that great day in your life, you do not want to pull out your dress to a wrinkled mess. That would make you upset and not appreciate the way in which you are storing. So ask the Windsor self storage manager if they have wardrobe boxes for you use to store such things.
Do not overload your packing boxes. Three quarters full is a good rule of thumb to prevent damage later. The more you stuff your box the worse off it will be in future when you pull it out. People are so focused on putting everything in a box that they overfill it only to damage what they are putting into the box. Then they might have to replace those things. Little do they know is that not everything is replaceable. Take your time and load the box correctly to prevent sadness later.
Sometimes you might be able to ask your moving company about the storage space you will need. They will be able to give you an accurate estimate because they have moved people just like you before. Not every case is the same, but most cases are similar. What it really comes down to is, can these things fit in this space. The answer should be yes. It should not be a problem. Take all the help you can in getting the right space and also getting the right boxes for you.
