Vancouver storage units may be filled with hockey sticks.  Vancouver is in British Columbia, Canada, but it is not far from Seattle either.  People who go on vacation in the great Northwest often stop in both cities.  Vancouver is considered to be one of the prettiest cities in Canada and is a great tourist attraction.  A storage unit is a storage space that all kinds of people put their things in.  They may be moving or just storing stuff, they have no room in other places in their lives.  We mention hockey sticks, not as a joke, but homage to the great sport of hockey.  Hockey players are some of the toughest and best of the athletes in any sport.  First, one must be able to ice skate at a very high level.  This takes years and years of practice.  Some hockey players have been skating when they were only two years old.  We remember taking our young seven-year-old son ice-skating once or twice, and how hard it was just ice-skating backwards a little bit.  Hockey players must skate backwards at high speeds to play defense.  As a matter of fact, defensemen often skate backwards and watch the play develop in front of them.  They must then, make a decision in sometimes, less than a second, to stop the play from occurring.  They might stick out their hockey stick and try to poke the puck away from the opponent, or sweep at the puck.

Vancouver storage units are probably filled up with hockey equipment too.  Hockey is the sport of British Columbia and Canada.  There is a lot of ice in Canada to encourage the playing of ice hockey, but it is more than that.  When two year olds and three to four year olds are skating around on a brisk cold day on an ice pond, it is more than just the weather that propels them onward.  If you have ever played the game before, you will know the feeling.  Hitting someone in open ice, or taking a slap shot and beating a goalie, is really a thrill.  Shooting a puck on ice skates is hard.  Standing on ice skates is hard for some of us, but to watch how graceful ice skaters can be, even in a game as physical as ice hockey, is pretty cool.  People sometimes have a hard time following the puck on TV.  The puck is black, is small, and flies around back and forth on one’s TV screen.  Beginners have a hard time following this on TV, and many give up and go back to football or baseball.

Vancouver storage units may have a football or two in them too.  Canada has a football professional league, and collages play football too up here.  They do not compete with ice hockey very well, though, as the ratings for ice hockey games in Canada will prove.  Any other sport though, would find it hard to compete against ice hockey for anything in Canada.  Snowmobiles sound fun too though, and just sliding on ice in your shoes can be fun too.  We have not ice skated in a very long time, and would probably fall often.  We do not know if our bodies would take that as much as we could as kids.

Humber Summit storage units are located in the great place of Ontario, Canada.  Even though one might make the long trek all the way to Ontario, Canada from the United States of America, we still think of stuff when we were younger every time we think of self storage places and where they are located.  We have traveled all over the world and find that no matter where we go, it seems people need storage.  It is good to buy things, and that is what makes the entire world go round.  A long time ago, we had to find an apartment to move into because we, ourselves, had to move from the northern United States to the southern part of the country.  We rented a tiny studio apartment on a weekday, maybe a Friday or a Tuesday, we do not remember, but what we do remember is the apartment manager never mentioned there was a giant flea market right next door to the apartment complex we moved into.  Maybe we should have asked, but who would ever ask a question like that.  This all does wrap its way back to the storage units in a way you might be able to guess.  Therefore, we woke up one bright sunny Saturday morning and heard a thousand voices and a thousand cars making the sounds they make.  We quickly got dressed and made our way in the bright sun of Texas.  There were cars everywhere, and every space of our apartment complex has a car in it.  It was so full of cars that we would not be able to even get our own car out of the parking lot.  We cut through all the commotion and there to our great surprise was a giant flea market right in front of our eyes.

Humber Summit storage units in the great place of Ontario, Canada have flea market stuff in it too.  This is what people do you know, buy junk at flea markets and put them in storage.  Therefore, that is what we did too.  We bought things for a dollar and two dollars American money and had to get a self storage unit or space ourselves.  We were broke because we were a very young couple at the time, but every weekend for a whole year, we were dressed and made our way to the flea market.  It was a pretty cheap way to spend weekends because some times we bought nothing.  It took a good five to six hours of walking around and seeing everything, and soon the vendors knew us by our name.  We filled the entire tiny studio with knick-knacks and cups and dishes, and stuffed animal and books and everything else a flea market might sell.

Country Hills storage units in Alberta, Canada, has our dog sweater in it.  We know, sometimes other people make you do things you might not do otherwise, so here we are going to our storage unit in the snow and the cold and ice.  We usually fall on our butts once a year, so we are thinking we have not fallen yet and our time will be soon.  This blogger fell last year twice, once in the garage and once on a storage property trying to get in a door.  Both times, it was landing on a back and when this blogger tried to get up, it brought a little worry on us.  It was all good though as my body raised and everything was OK once again.  The family as a whole will fall too, and our seven-year-old son falls so much I stopped counting.  We think he falls on purpose sometimes for the fun of it.  We fall when we sled which is quite all right with us, because it is not far to fall for an old man and we can get up.  Our six-year-old daughter falls on purpose too sometimes, and we have to watch her to make sure she is not falling hard enough to hurt herself or break something.  We saw our Dad once slip on a porch and fall down it and as luck would have it, he slid right next to a sharp shovel on the porch.  We dragged him in the house and he pulled up his snow pants and what a bad gash we saw.  We were scared and wanted to rush him to the hospital, but like my Dad always is, he would not go and the next day he even went to work.  Falling down in ice and snow, we guess runs in the family

Country Hills storage units in Alberta, Canada has a dog sweater we must find.  Our dog is sixteen years old times five, so he is ninety years old in our life.  We all do that do we not, see how old our dog is compared to us if he was not a dog, but a human being.  Some insects only live a few hours and some animals only for a few years.  We have a friend with pet rats and he told us they will only live a maximum of three years.  We do not want pets like that, because that would be too many animal funerals to deal with all the time.  A dog passing away is hard enough for a family to deal with, so a rat dying every two or three years would be hard on the kids.  Ok, it is hard on us parents too.  We are animal lovers all the way.  So, this sweater we are going to get from our storage area for our ninety year old dog can go outside with us.  We are not sure how much warmth this gives him, but the wife insists on him wearing it, and it is in our storage unit.

Edmonton storage units in Alberta, Canada have a few hockey sticks in them.  When we think of Edmonton two things come to mind.  Hockey and a mall.  We are more of hockey fans than mall fans but these things are pretty cool to have in one city.  The heyday of ice hockey in this wonderful city was a while back though, as one of the greatest ice hockey teams of all time hailed here in Edmonton.  The Oilers won a whole lot of games with great scorers and great defense.  They were the whole package for many years and teams could be good for a long time back than, but hardly now.  Teams are often broken up now after they win a Stanley Cup because of salary caps.  Salary caps can be argued on another day, but we still have mixed feelings about the whole thing, because dynasties are hard to come by now.  Look at the residing champions right now, the Chicago Black Hawks.  They could not afford to pay everybody on the team so they had to change up a lot of their line up to keep their best players.  In hockey though, you need more than two or three superstars to win a Cup.  You need ice hockey players who can grind it out too, and defend the best players from the other team to win.  You need a goalie to stop all the easy shots on him plus a few great saves in every game to win a Cup.  You need great speed and big people to protect little people.  You need people that can fight.  Hockey is a complete team sport in every way.

Edmonton storage units in Alberta, Canada have a few things in them from the mall too.  We mean a great big mall with a water park inside it.  This water park is an extreme water park with monster rides and thrills a minute tunnels and water slides that just might take your breath away.  We like water parks more than amusement parks because we do not feel dizzy after a water park ride compared to a ride on a roller coaster or a ride that spins and spins and spins.  We turned a bright purple on a few of those rides before.  We will pass this time.  The wife likes to shop though, so a giant mall in Edmonton would sound good to her.  The rest of the family might be spilt on this though.  We think the boys might prefer hockey, but a giant water park sounds too good to pass up.  Maybe we can skip all the shopping and go straight to the top of a giant slide.

Edmonton storage units in Alberta, Canada have all this and more of course.  We are not suggesting everything one buys from a mall goes to storage to get lost and forgotten.  Ask the wife or any other member of the family.  They love malls.  They can leave this blogger home though if they want to make a day of going to the mall.  The mall in Edmonton might take three days to see the whole thing, so we better get ready and fill the ice box up with food, just in case, they do not come home for three days.  We can watch hockey right?

Big Springs storage units in Alberta, Canada have a few goalies masks in them.  In the beginning, goalies did not wear masks and we always wondered why most of them never really did get hurt too much.  In today’s fast-paced ice hockey games, every goalie wears a mask to protect themselves.  We are old enough today to remember watching ice hockey games on TV or going to them in person, to remember seeing some of these goalies with no mask.  We do not remember the specific period of time when all the goalies decided to wear them, or the National Hockey League made them wear the masks.  One goalie we remember in particular put marks on his helmet and mask as to where a puck hit him.  He had marks all over the mask and helmet and it was pretty cool to see, and kind of frightful too, when you think of a one hundred mile an hour shot coming at him.  You can tell we are writing this blog from the United States of America by our use of the word miles.

We lived in Germany while in the Army and we tried our best to convert miles to the metric system.  If memories serve us correctly, it was about one hundred miles to sixty.  If the odometer said one hundred, we were going sixty miles an hour.  One remembers strange things in a life don’t we.  It is like storage units in a way, because every time you go into a storage space, it does bring back some kind of memory from your past.  Where were we?  Oh yeah, hockey and goalies.  Therefore, these masks now are worn by all goalies and some are quite good looking to see.  They are in great colors of red and blue, and some have great artwork on them.  We always wondered how hard it would be to stop a one hundred mile an hour slap shot if we were a goalie for just one day.

There is not really a good way to judge what features are great to have for a self storage facility. Many different people like to work with their hands. People love to put things together, build things and get their hands dirty. Collingwood storage is somewhere in Canada, Ontario to be exact.  Canada is a place where we hunt and fish sometimes, or just visit our new managers and getting a feel of the place.  Most people who live in Canada seem to like it.  I do not know much about it because I am usually firing a gun in the mountains at birds.  We fish too and the landscapes are great.

Free trips to Canada are not bad at all.  We love music too, and I am more familiar with people from Canada who also play music.  At the Winter Games last year they mentioned Joni Mitchell but not Neil Young.  It gave me a laugh because I was thinking that maybe Neil Young was too political to mention to millions of people around the world.  Rush was not mentioned either.  Bruce Cockburn was not mentioned either, but we are sure he should have been.

Collingwood storage places are a place we might check out next time we visit. We have to work somewhat on these business trips to justify the cost of going.  We do of course, and let me put this in writing for all to see.  We work on these business trips.  Hunting, are you kidding us?  We have no time to hunt, fish, eat, dance, or play in the snow.  We have snow in America too don’t you know, we do not need to play in the snow.  Snow slows us down.  We have to drive slower and be more careful in the snow and ice.  Collingwood storage will just have to wait if the snow is too high or the ice too slippery to drive on.  We will do paperwork in our hotel rooms the whole time and never venture out to play in the snow.  We brought food from America to eat in our hotel rooms.

Going out to great Canadian restaurants is not an option here.  We are way too busy to do that.  It is work, work, work, here all the time.  We can not even watch a hockey game on TV.  No, we can not.  No football either or any other TV shows.  It is paperwork and research we do.  All the time we have pens and laptops in our hands.  We are asking questions and listening.  No room service.  Is it snowing?  Do not look out the window, please.  Back to work you guys, do not look up anymore.

There is nothing to do in Canada anyway.  Festivals and ice skating and a great nightlife and the mountains and all of that is not for us.  I can listen to Rush at home.  Isn’t the Guess Who from here too?  We like them.  That is right though.  No radio here.  We do not need it.  We have radio back home.  We can hear Joni Mitchell at home.  Is she still singing and playing?  We do not care.  We know Rush is still playing, we saw them on TV just last week.  They sure can play huh?  Are there any rappers from Canada?  Not even one?  Why not?  It does not matter really.  We have rap music back home.

I do not know about you, reader, but I have some issues with my property.  By that, of course, I do not mean to say that the faults lie in my property, itself.  What I mean to say, here, is that I do not like letting people borrow my things, and I certainly do not like leaving my things lying around.  Thus, shopping around for a self storage unit is a stressful endeavor for me.  When I pay a company to keep my belongings safe, I like to make sure that that is what they are actually going to do.  I mean, I am not going to leave all of my belongings in some room, just hoping that they are going to stay safe while I am gone.  Oh, no.  That is not what I am going to do at all.

I have a lot of expensive computer equipment.  I mean, a lot of it.  While I may work a standard job during the day, my brain really comes alive at night.  And by that, I mean to say that I work on my cartoons at night.  That is my dream job, really.  Selling the cartoons that I create.  Of course, nowadays, you cannot work on cartoons if you do not have the right equipment.  I have a laptop, a desktop, a $500 digital drawing pad, untold number of pens, pencils, and paint brushes, easels, cameras, and, well, too much to list herein.  If I am going to take the risk of storing all of that stuff in a self storage unit, then I am going to have to know that it is going to stay safe.  If I do not, then I am not going to be able to sleep at night.

Of course, part of keeping my belongings safe is making sure that their environment is nice and controlled.  I flat out refuse to store my electronics in a unit that is not climate controlled throughout the entire year.  I mean, my computers are cameras are just too important to take that kind of risk, you know?  If they get too hot or too cold, then they are going to break.  And really, I think that I would break if I lost any of my equipment.  It is just that important to me.  I mean, if I cannot pursue my passion, then I might as well be dead, right?

Some people think that I’m crazy for it, but I refuse to rent a unit without being able to see it with my own two eyes.  I mean, how am I supposed to rest assured that my belongings are going to be safe if I have never even seen the room where they are going to be stored?  How am I supposed to know that I am not wasting my money on a unit if I cannot see that it is nice and clean?  I think that the answers to these questions are pretty clear, reader.

If you are like me, and you would like to make sure that you are going to be keeping your belongings safe when you stick them in a self storage unit, then you have to get out there and make sure that the unit lives up to your standards.  It takes more time, but it is time well spent.
