Not Everything Can Go Into StorageBy jeff on February 7, 2011 | No Comments

Managers at your local Teston self storage facility have encountered customers wanting to store various objects in their Teston self storage unit. The thing is the managers that work on site ensure that not just anything is able to be stored. There has to be some limitations on what can and will go into the storage unit for safety and protection of everyone. Customers do not seem to understand that though process and they want to store whatever they necessary to store. This is one of the reasons that the manager asks the customer what they plan on storing. They are hoping to eliminate some things being stored in the unit that is prohibited.
If you are thinking of renting a storage unit, you should check with your local manager about any items that may be prohibited. There are many things that you do not think you can store, that is clearly detailed on your lease agreement. Old tires can be at the top of the list. Some people like to keep old tires for a reason that is beyond the comprehension of some people. The old rubber can be used for many different purposes, but cannot be stored in a Teston self storage unit. The facility in Ontario does not want the facility to look like, smell and appear to be a junk yard.
Another rule of thumb is anything living or dead cannot be stored at a storage facility. . Dead would include taxidermy items or other things of that nature. Living items are plants or aquariums with live fish. Not everyone understands the thoughts around this rule, but they tend to go with it just because they were told not to store it there. If you think about it, most things that are dead do end up having some kind of odor. You have to keep in mind that you are not the only person that is storing there. There are other people around you. For that reason, people would appreciate it if you did not have anything in there that could die and cause an odor. They do not want to walk into their self storage unit one day and get knocked off of their feet by the odor.
Also the thing about storing things that were once living is that they attract things into the unit that can be harmful to your belongings and the belongings of others. They can attract rodents and other living creatures into the storage space. They can and will get into the perishable items and cause it to become gross and infested. On top of that the organisms that are growing from it can produce more organisms. This can lead to a storage unit infestation that can affect the neighboring storage units. Nobody wants that so, do not store anything perishable.

The Benefits of Climate Controlled Self StorageBy jeff on February 7, 2011 | No Comments
Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/totalqua/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787
There are many reasons that people need to store their belongings for reasons of moving to needing extra space. At your local St. Thomas Self Storage facility there are many different unit sizes and types available for you to use. Not everyone knows why they need one unit type over another. Below are a few reasons why you might go with a climate controlled unit over the rest of the unit types.
You should use a climate controlled space if you have a lot of breakables to be stored. The reason for this is because the spaces will typically be stored inside the St. Thomas Self Storage facility. This will give you a little added security for your breakables. People feel a little better having a person coming down the hallways to their storage space versus being able to drive right up to the unit, opening the door, taking their belongings and driving away.
Another reason to get a climate controlled space is because you do not like having your belongings in the extreme heat or the cold. In Ontario customers still get all the seasons. Of course some seasons are a little harsher than other season. For that reason, people want to ensure that they are getting a space that is climate controlled. They do not want their belongings to freeze or become overheated.
If you have family heirlooms to be stored, you should consider using a climate controlled space at your local St. Thomas Self Storage facility. This way, the consistent temperature inside will ensure that they stay safe and sound. It would be just like storing those heirlooms in your home and that is what the St. Thomas Self Storage facility is trying to accomplish with climate controlled space.
Are you concerned about possible mold growth in your storage space? If this is the case then you should really look into climate controlled storage at your St. Thomas Self Storage facility. Mold grows in areas where there is high humidity. A climate controlled space would prevent this from happening. With the constant temperature that a climate controlled space has, you should not worry about that at all. Plus you are not going to be storing anything in your storage space that would create moisture so you should be fine. If this is a concern of yours then you should look to a climate controlled space.
Sometimes people want a climate controlled space just because they that is what they were told they should get. There is not really a method to why they were told they needed it. With the belongings that they will be storing, they really only need to have a space that is standard. That does not matter to them really, they still want to go with the climate controlled space. They simply want to know that their belongings will be in an environment that is like their own home. With that said the climate controlled space is the way to go. Customers are generally happy with their decision so the managers at the facility do not question their motives. The managers do not argue with the customer either because it does cost more to use a climate controlled space. The more money the customer spends, the more the facility makes.

Packrats Maintain Their Hobby & Home With Self St...By jeff on November 30, 2010 | No Comments

Buttonville storage places are popping up. People are buying more stuff and the house is not big enough now to hold it all.
Why do we need so much stuff anyway? We are people who love stuff. In college, we had nothing and were happy. We could fit everything we had in our tiny little dorm rooms and we were happy. Stuff can bring you down man. It costs a fortune to move stuff.
Buttonville storage looks full. Every storage locker we saw had a lock on it. Everybody seems to have a storage locker these days. It is almost a cool thing to do. We go to our Buttonville storage place and see other people doing what we do. They are moving boxes back and forth, and back and forth, and back and forth. We move boxes back and forth too. Put this box here; move this box back to the house and what is in this box? We can not remember. We should have marked all these boxes but we forgot a few to mark. We will have to open them up now and see what is inside them. Will it be junk or something we can use? In addition, if it is junk why are we storing it in the first place?
All people who store junk should unite and fight the junk wars. We will not store junk anymore. We are starting today not to store junk anymore. We will not buy junk, store junk, or try to fix junk. We are anti junk from now on. We will fight junk on every level and call out junk. China should stop making junk. We bought some toys from China once and the little action figures broke in my hand. We did not even get to play with them. They turned to junk right from the package. We think the package was tougher than the toys inside. Not good, we tell you. No more junk.
We buy junk cars too but they can not fit into our Buttonville storage space. Thank goodness. A space that big to store a junk car, well, we will not talk about that anymore. We had a series of junk cars when we first married and we did not store any of them at any time. We do not buy junk cars anymore. We need brakes and junk cars have bad brakes most of the time. I asked my son why he bought that junk the other day and he said because he liked it. We stopped to ponder his answer and it made sense.
We all like junk. We buy junk and store it at Buttonville storage in Ontario, Canada, and relish the fact we have junk to look at and use whenever we want. Junk is everywhere in our storage unit or space, and we like it. We like our junk and will buy more. Our junk crusade may never happen. Our hearts might not be into it. We might just have to keep all our junk forever and ever. My son likes junk too. He can have his junk. Go buy junk, son. It is OK.

Plan for Maple Self Storage ShoppingBy admin on July 21, 2010 | No Comments

The experts agree that there is a right way and a wrong way to shop for Maple self storage and you will want to make sure that you do it the right way. The wrong way is to call around and ask for the price only or to just go with the first place that you come to. You want to develop a little bit of a strategy so that you make sure you get the absolute best deal in the area. It is important to remember that the lowest price is not always the best price or the best deal. You will need to dig a little bit deeper to find the absolute best deal in the area.
To find Maple self storage that meets your needs and does not break the bank you will need to get the phonebook out or get on the internet to do a little search of the area. The internet may tend to be more helpful in your search because you can get an overhead look of your area which will help determine what is close by and what is too far away. You do not want to get a unit at a property that is too far away unless you do not plan on visiting the space very often. If you plan to go to the site on a somewhat frequent basis, then you would be better served having a place that is close to where you live. If not, it should be close to where you work or near a place that you visit often. It would not be worth it to go to a property that is far away because the monthly rate is a little cheaper. You will spend extra money on gas to get there and if you go there often, the added cost could really add up to a lot.
Now that you have found a few Maple self storage locations that are close by, you should pick up the phone and prepare yourself to make a few phone calls. Now, you should only have about ten places to call so it should take less than an hour. This would be an excellent investment of your time so make sure you are patient and take the time to really find out about each facility. Pay attention to how the Maple self storage manager treats you on the initial call. This will be a good indicator of how you will be treated when you are customer. If you are having trouble getting in touch with someone to help you with prices when you call, then you will probably have just as much trouble when you need to talk to them when something comes up in the future.
When you call around for Maple self storage there are a few things that will be different from site to site. The first is security. Some sites will take security very seriously and other sites will not make it that much of a priority. You want to be at a site that cares about security so that you can have peace of mind that your things will be taken care of while you store. You also want to ask about any move in specials that they may be offering at the current time.

Setup of Airdrie Self StorageBy admin on July 12, 2010 | No Comments
Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/totalqua/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787
One thing that is overlooked by a lot of people that are looking for Airdrie self storage is the little things that go along with the storage space signing up process. There are a few things to look out for because they may not mention it until you get down to the site. You should always ask about an administration fee. Almost every single storage place that you call will have an admin fee. They may not all tell you about the admin fee until you are at the site ready to sign up for the space. Even though this frustrates a lot of customers, there are not that many people that would not get the space over the deal so it makes sense that a lot of companies will try to do this. Once you have everything all set up and squared away, 20 dollars is not going to break the deal. There are some people that will not rent in that situation just on principle.
The administration fee for most Airdrie self storage locations should be very similar in price. It should be around 20 dollars or so depending on where you go. There are some facilities that have admin fees of only around ten dollars or fifteen dollars. There are also some properties that have admin fee close to thirty dollars. The companies that have admin fees that are thirty dollars or twenty five dollars usually will give a lock to you for free to compensate for the extra money for the admin fee. There may be one or two stores out of one hundred that do not charge for admin fees, but they are so rare that you should not base your decision solely on that.
Another thing to remember when comparing admin fees for Airdrie self storage locations is that just because there is no admin fee does not mean that you will pay in some other manner. There could be a chance that they have a deposit that is equal to the first months rent. While you should get that back when you move out, it is still an extra cost for you to get set up.
In the world of Airdrie self storage units it is completely necessary to charge an admin fee. It accomplishes a few different things that otherwise would cause the storage property to lose money or even charge more money on the monthly rent. It is safe to say that we are better off with them than without them. The last thing that you want to do is get mad at someone on the phone when they mention the admin fee. You should be thanking them. After all, they could have waited until you were ready to pay for the space to tell you. At least they are upfront and honest about everything.
Now that you know the reasons why admin fees are an integral part of the Airdrie self storage scene the time has come to make a few calls and make it happen. When you call, not only do you want to ask about any admin fees that would be extra, but you also will want to inquire about a deposit or lock or anything else that may go along with getting set up. Good luck in your search.

Airdrie Self Storage FAQBy admin on July 9, 2010 | No Comments

It cannot be said enough. The best Airdrie self storage facilities are the ones that are able to completely satisfy the needs of the customer. Sometimes the manager at the location will not know exactly what the need of the customer is unless they ask. It is completely fine for the manager to ask the customer as many questions as they can in order to determine those needs. There is nothing worse than a manager trying to assist as customer and have no idea what they want. The manager can guess but in the end they will just end up looking bad. Then the customer might decide to go elsewhere.
The manager at the Airdrie self storage location should not over thinks the questions he should ask the potential renter. The manager needs to know a couple of things, does the customer know how to get to the facility, is it convenient for them to get to, what they will be storing, when they need the space, and for how long. Each question is very important and has a specific reason for being asked.
Sometimes the customer will not like to be asked questions they do not see the reason for being asked. It is a good practice for the Airdrie self storage manager to set up their discovery session smartly. They can easily set the questions session up by just asking the customer if they mind a couple of questions asked in order to better understand their storage needs. For the most part the customer will be completely happy about it and welcome the questions. One of the not so great things the manager can do is just start the barrage of questions to the customer and the customer not respond well to it. Sometimes the customer will decide to walk out of the office or hang up the phone if they feel sold to.
For the most part, the customer needs to feel that the location they choose is convenient for them to get to. They need to know where the location is so they can bring their belongings to and to see the property. This is a great lead off question, because if the customer does not know to get to the site, that is a huge problem. Also the customer might think they are calling one facility and getting another. Make sure that the location is right for the customer.
The next important step and question is to know what the customer is storing. Sometimes the customer might actually know what size they need and the manager just wants to confirm the size is what they will need. Hopefully after determining the size for the customer, the Airdrie self storage location has the size the customer needs. If not, try to work with the customer in order to still get them taken care of. Most of the time between the customer and the manager a size can be figure out and then rented.
Knowing when the customer will need the space will let the Airdrie self storage manager know if they will have something available. If the manager has the space available they are looking for, everything should run smoothly after the price is given. Most of the time, the manager can overcome any objection the customer has, and everyone should be happy by the end of the process.

Setup Costs for Collingwood Self StorageBy admin on July 2, 2010 | No Comments
Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/totalqua/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787
The setup costs associated with getting Collingwood self storage can be a little bit confusing and are worth getting familiar with. That way you can compare locations in a manner that will be more effective that just looking at the monthly cost of rent. The first thing that you will want to be aware of is the administration fee. The admin fee is an additional cost that will be added to the first month and is usually around twenty dollars. Some properties may charge a little more or a little less just depending on where they want to be at price wise compared to the other stores in town. The admin fee helps to get your paperwork set up, gate code working, and also helps the manager get the space ready for you so you can come in, sign for the space, and move in very quickly.
The second cost to watch for in the Collingwood self storage world is a deposit. Some sites have deposits but most will not. The ones that do may only have a deposit that is around ten or twenty dollars. That would be a cleaning deposit and they just want to make sure that renters are not leaving things behind when they move out. There are some sites that have a deposit that is equal to one months rent even though you should get that back in full when you move out, it can really add to your overall cost to get setup. The deposit is something that you should ask about as you call around. Another thing to watch for is any type of long term contract. With the amount of storage places in the world today, you should settle for nothing less than a month to month contract even if you are getting a move in special.
Taxes have always been a big part in Collingwood self storage and they just got a little bit bigger at the beginning of this month. Taxes are up and you should make sure to get a monthly rent quote with tax included so that you can make sure that the price is going to fit into the budget. The last thing that you will want to do is get a space that is going to put you in financial danger.
Another aspect of the Collingwood self storage set up process is the insurance or coverage that you will need to get when you rent a space. Some of the sites around the area will require some type of coverage. Some are still considering this as an option, but they will probably all require it so do not overlook a property just because they require insurance. If you have homeowners or renters insurance, then that will most likely cover your belongings while they are in storage. If you do not have either of those as an option, the Collingwood self storage manager would be able to go over a few plans that the site offers to fulfill the need for coverage. The lock is also something that you will want to factor in to the overall cost of getting set up. That will only run you an extra ten or twenty dollars and you can take the lock with you when you leave so you will not need to buy a new one if you ever need to store in the future.
